Accessing your account online

Following your account transfer to Hostplus you can now easily access your account online, anywhere, anytime. To get started, you’ll need to register and set up a new password at mol.hostplus.com.au/registration. You’ll need your member number, which has carried over from your Maritime Super account with no change.

Through Member Online or Pension Online you can check your balance, switch investment strategies or review and update your details with ease.

Hostplus App

Once you’ve registered your account through Member Online, stay connected by downloading the Hostplus app. Through the app you can easily manage your account, track your investments, and make updates to your personal details.

Information for Pension members

Your pension account(s) have been transferred to Hostplus. In July 2023, you'd have received detailed information regarding pension arrangements in the Significant Event Notice specific to your pension product, sent by Maritime Super. You can find all categories of Significant Event Notices here.

Hostplus pensions will continue to be paid as they were at Maritime Super:

  • Monthly payments will be made on the 15th of each month.
  • Quarterly payments will be based on your previous arrangement with Maritime Super and will be paid in the middle of the month.

Pension payments will be deposited directly into your bank account. Please be aware that payments cannot be made by cheque.

Information on your insurance

Members should check the relevant Maritime PDS (Product Disclosure Statement) for more information on your insurance arrangements.

Why can’t I register for the Hostplus Mobile app?

The Hostplus Mobile app is currently not available for Defined Benefit members. These accounts are planned to be added to the Mobile App in the next year. In the meantime, unless you’re currently at sea and outside mobile phone signal, you can access your account on the go using the mobile-friendly version of Member Online for your latest account details.

I have a super and Pension account, why can’t I see my combined balances?

As a Transition to Retirement Pension member, you’ll need to register for both Member Online for your super account and Pension Online for your Pension account. To link these accounts together you will need to  call the dedicated Member Services team on 1800 757 607 after you have registered for both Member Online and Pension Online. We understand that you may be used to seeing your super and Pension balances in one place, however you can easily toggle between the two accounts. Keep in mind that the Member Online and Pension Online registration requires two factor authentication involving either a phone call or text to a mobile phone, you may not be able to log in while you’re at sea and outside mobile phone signal.

Have fees and costs changed?

Hostplus’ fees and costs are different to those at Maritime Super. Members were provided detailed information on the changes or fees and costs in the Significant Event Notices and relevant PDS issued by Maritime Super in July 2023.

Has my insurance cover changed?

Your level of insurance cover has been carried across to your Hostplus membership. From the end of October 2023, you can expect to receive an insurance confirmation letter from Hostplus detailing your level of cover. You can view your current cover at any time by logging into Member Online or via the Hostplus app*.

*The Hostplus app is not available to all categories of membership. If you need help, contact us on 1800 757 607, online or via our live chat function and we'll be happy to assist.

Has my investment strategy changed?

Your investment strategy as of 1 September 2023, has been transferred to your Hostplus account. Since Hostplus already managed Maritime Super's investments, there's no need to map out or align investment options as the investment options available to you are the same as before. For more information on our investment options, please visit our investments website page.

Restricted investment choice for Maritime Contributory Accumulation members with a Protected Minimum Benefit

If you joined Maritime Super before 1 July 2008 and have not waived your Protected Minimum Benefit, your investment choice with your Hostplus account is restricted to the following investment options:

  • Shares Plus
  • Balanced
  • Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) – Balanced
  • Indexed Balanced
  • Conservative Balanced
  • Capital Stable
  • Australian Shares
  • International Shares
  • Cash

Please note this means you will also not have access to Choiceplus or Hostplus Life.

Do I need to take any action for my personal contributions?

It’s important to note that any existing direct debit and recurrent BPAY arrangements you had with Maritime Super have not been transferred to your Hostplus account, so you’ll need to set them up again. If you wish to continue a Direct Debit arrangement, you can complete a Hostplus Direct Debit authority form, however you may want to also advise your bank to cancel any current arrangements.

You can log into Member Online to find the Hostplus BPAY details.

What if I had a Maritime Super and a Hostplus account?

If you already have a Hostplus account before 1 September 2023, your Maritime Super account balance will be transferred to your existing Hostplus account and invested based on your previous Maritime Super investment option(s) as of 1 September. In some cases, a duplicate account may be created. If this happens, Hostplus will reach out to you to discuss your options.

Have my authorised representatives transferred to Hostplus?

Your Enduring Power of Attorney and Guardianship Orders will be recognised by Hostplus. Authorised Representatives and Third Party authorities will lapse and have not transferred to Hostplus. You will need to provide new authorities to Hostplus by completing a third party authority form.

*The Hostplus app is not available to all categories of membership.

Some Maritime Super products have moved across to Hostplus under a different product name. To find your product name post-merger, we’ve put together a guide for you below.

*Existing Hostplus product

Nominating a beneficiary gives you a say in who’ll receive your money when you pass away, providing you with peace of mind that you’ll continue to look after your loved ones.

In most cases, any nominated beneficiaries on your Maritime Super account have been transferred to Hostplus. However, there may be circumstances in which they have lapsed, or the legal arrangements may have changed. A summary of the arrangements is below, however you should refer to the Maritime Super Significant Event Notice and check your nominated beneficiaries through Member Online, Pension Online or by contacting us.

  • binding death benefit nominations and non-lapsing binding death benefit nominations lapsed on transfer to Hostplus. While the Hostplus Trustee intends to give effect to an existing binding death benefit nomination as if it continued to apply (with its existing expiry date), to guarantee that your nomination is binding on the Hostplus Trustee, you will need to submit a new (three-year) Binding Death Benefit Nomination form to Hostplus.
  • non-binding beneficiary nominations have been carried across. Hostplus can take these nominations into account but is not legally bound to follow them.
  • reversionary beneficiary nominations (pension accounts only) have been carried across to your Hostplus account.
  • If you had an existing Hostplus account at 1 September 2023, your Maritime Super beneficiary nomination will not be carried across, and your existing Hostplus beneficiary nomination will remain on your Hostplus account.

We encourage you to review your binding death benefit nomination/s to ensure your nominations are up to date. You can submit a new (three-year) Binding Death Benefit Nomination by completing our nomination form or visit our beneficiaries webpage.

For more details on beneficiaries, please refer to the Maritime Super Significant Event Notice

Your guide
to this page

As part of the merger, your super arrangements with Maritime Super have been transferred to Hostplus. Both funds have worked together to help ensure the transition causes minimal disruption to your business and staff, and you continue to enjoy the same excellent level of service that you’ve come to expect. We've put together some information, and additional resources below to help guide you throughout the merger.

*Subject to accepting Hostplus QuickSuper Terms and Conditions.  QuickSuper is issued by Westpac Banking Corporation (ABN 33 007 457 141, AFSL 233714). An offer to issue this product may be made to you by Westpac, subject to completion of the application process. The Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for QuickSuper is available on the Westpac website. You should consider the PDS before deciding to accept any offer made by Westpac to issue the product.

Important things you should know

There are two important things that you need to consider from the merger:

  1. You will need to update the Unique Superannuation Identifier (USI) from Maritime Super to the Hostplus USI for all employees who were previously Maritime Super members:
    Hostplus USI: HOS0100AU
    Hostplus ABN: 68 6574 958 90

The USI for Maritime Super cannot be used from 25 August 2023. Any payments made to this USI after this date may be rejected and returned to you.

  2. If you were using the Maritime Super QuickSuper Clearing House you will need to start using Hostplus QuickSuper*.
Can I still contact the Employer Services Team?

Yes. You’ll be pleased to know the existing contact phone number 1800 757 607 has not changed.

When are member insurance premiums deducted?

Maritime Super used to deduct insurance cover premiums annually from member accounts in advance on 1 July of each financial year or at the start of cover. From 1 July 2023, insurance premiums deducted from member accounts cover the period from 1 July to 1 September 2023.

From 2 September 2023 onwards, Hostplus will deduct insurance premiums from member accounts monthly in arrears. Employers who pay insurance premiums on behalf of their employees will be invoiced on a monthly basis. The monthly invoice will include details on how to pay your premiums.

What if I had both Maritime Super and Hostplus employer account?

We have endeavoured to identify instances where employers have both a Maritime Super and Hostplus account. Where we have been able to identify these instances, we’ve sought to merge those accounts. Where this has not been possible to merge accounts, we’ve kept both accounts active. If you’d like assistance with managing or removing multiple accounts, please contact us on 1800 757 607.

Does the Hostplus clearing house support a file upload from MYOB?

You’ll need an Excel CSV file format that matches the requirements of the QuickSuper CSV V2 file format or the SuperStream Alternative File Format (SAFF).

MYOB employers can extract the required data from MYOB reports and input it manually into the QuickSuper CSV V2 file format or the SuperStream Alternative File Format (SAFF) templates. Guides and templates for these files can be supplied by contacting us.

What if I already paid super contributions using Hostplus QuickSuper?

As you are already an existing Hostplus employer, you’ve kept your current Hostplus employer number as well as your current QuickSuper login details. You will, however, need to update superannuation fund information for all employees that received contributions into Maritime Super to reflect their new status as Hostplus members, if you haven’t already done so.

The USI for Maritime Super was disabled on 25 August 2023, which means that any payments made to this USI from this date may be rejected and returned. You’ll need to update the USI to HOS0100AU, you'll then be able to begin making contributions.

For data stored in Excel CSV files, it may be helpful to use the “Find and Replace” function to update all instances of the Maritime Super USI.

Employee member numbers held at Maritime Super have been carried across to Hostplus. In circumstances where a member had a Maritime Super and Hostplus account, their Maritime Super account balance has been transferred to Hostplus under their existing Hostplus account.

Your employer number has not been carried across to Hostplus, and you will be issued a new employer number. Your new employer number is set out in your welcome documentation from Hostplus.

Your employer information has been carried across to Hostplus. We use an employer’s ABN and/or ACN to identify employers and manage contributions through our clearing house.

No matter which system you use to pay your contributions, you'll need to update the USI from Maritime Super to the Hostplus USI for all members who were previously Maritime fund members:

Hostplus USI: HOS0100AU

Hostplus ABN: 68 6574 958 90

If you were an existing Hostplus employer, you’ve kept your current Hostplus employer number and, if applicable, your current QuickSuper login details.  You will, however, need to update superannuation fund information for all employees who received contributions into Maritime Super to reflect their new status as Hostplus members.

If you don’t update the USI, then you may face delays with payment, including payments being potentially rejected and returned to you.

Hostplus have been working closely with employers to ensure a smooth transition. Fund rules for contribution payments (e.g. compulsory contributions) have remained unchanged. Any contribution arrangements that were already in place with Maritime Super have continued with Hostplus - these include:

  • mandatory employer contributions, including Super Guarantee (SG) contributions
  • salary sacrifice arrangements; and
  • member voluntary contributions made via employer.

Employers who have defined benefit (DB) arrangements can make contributions to Hostplus from 12 September under the same terms they are accustomed to. There are no changes to the required employer contribution rates or any member benefit arrangements.

We’re here to help.
