The financial year ending 30 June 2023 was a bit of a bumpy ride in investments. Hostplus remained steadfast through the ups and downs, though. We delivered 8.00% for the Balanced MySuper option in the 12 months through to 30 June. In even better news, the option is still ranked the number one Balanced option in Australia over 20 years.1 That’s a plus.

Maximising your net benefit

Higher net returns may mean a higher account balance for you and a boost on your journey to retirement. Our long-term performance can help put you on the path to a great financial future.2

Hostplus’ other pre-mixed options also delivered positive returns across the board this financial year.

Members enjoyed double-digit returns from Shares Plus (11.22%)3 and Indexed Balanced (12.34%)4

Optimistic outlook drives a healthy return

After the market volatility of 2022, share markets proved more resilient in the first half of 2023. This suggests that despite multiple increases to interest rates and concerns about the cost of living, investors are optimistic about inflation from here on in. This was the driving force behind this year’s healthy return.

A long-term view

Our message to members: keep your eye on the prize, as super is a long-term investment.

Over the past 20 years, our Balanced (My Super) option has delivered an average net return of 8.19% each year. That’s after all investment fees, costs and taxes have been paid.
